Many thanks, Kailash,

I think that the author is thinking more about computers replacing jobs and people rather than CAD / CAM in particular.

After all, paying taxes is one of the 'losses' to the government. But then who believes government statistics and accounts? See this US site for example: http://www.shadowstats.com/

Hope you don't mind getting disillusioned by the web!

Yours connectedly,

I completely agree that CAD/CAM has revolutionized manufacturing.
But more than it having taken away so many jobs, it has given the other people better products, at much lower costs and much faster.
I think the surge of CAD/CAM is more a boon and not a bane.

Dear John

Your comment makes me sigh. Yes, yes, there are lots of people who see 'poverty' only in terms of developing worlds. However, I've come to the conclusion that we have "institutionalised cruelty" in the UK. This leads to "mega-poverty" such as home repossessions, over-indebtedness, bankruptcies and suicides.

So no. For the moment we can't help yet. But trust me to do as best as I can with my 10 fingers. I'm dreaming of a "Sustainable Investment Network" that should fund what doesn't get funded by 'normal channels'.

"Money as Debt" is a video that illustrates the systemic causes that we're all suffering from. The trouble is that those who could make a difference don't seem to want to.

So we each have to find ways of trying. At least the web and the net are here to help!

With many thanks for your comment,
Sabine

I would love to hear if there are any success's in the UK deprived areas where the inner city communities have cronic poverty problems.

I line in such an area Pollok in Glasgow where debt and povery is rife, how can your organisation help people in this position?

Yes, Badrud,

recycling computers is nearly an ethical imperative. Why throw them away here if they can help someone in another part of the world?

Thanks for following these 'digital footsteps'!

A report said that on the application of Grameen in the last December,2007 Bangladesh Central Bank studied the feasibility of mobile banking in Bangladesh and is going to allow the mobile banking soon throughout the country beyond the conventional use of mobile phone in banking. http://www.thedailystar.net/story.php?nid=37467

That's very interesting, Badrud,

I was told by Grameen Solutions that they use www.obopay.com

But why let a Californian company benefit when it can be done at home!?...

I shall keep this in mind.

Thank You as always!
